Halloween is a holiday, celebrated on 31st october all over the world. Halloween is a day to dress up in costume, hand out candy and try to frighten each other and ourselves with spooky stories. Halloween was celebrated by the Celts- the ancient people of Ireland about 2000 years ago. It was called Samhain. The Celts believed that during thios time the souls of death traveled into the other world/ To help the dead along their journey and keep the living from being affected by those of dead who were evil, the Celts held a festival called Samhain. During this festival, the Celts wore costumes of animal skins and heads.
Centuries later, the pope of Catholic Church named 1st November, all Hallows day. Hallows is an ancient word for Saints. The night before all Hallows Day was called as Halloween Night.
